For the second poster, I went about it in a similar way as the first poster. I chose to phrase it the way I did, due to the same reasoning as mentioned above. This poster is about Plagiarism, and it uses an example of an image from www.turnitin.com. At the top of the poster, it reads: got caught? in the same way that a got milk? ad would look. The image is comparing a students paper, to an already existing paper online. The parts in red show which sentences were copied. Then at the bottom it reads: PLAGIARIZING. Its your word(s) against theirs. I chose Plagiarism to be in red, to show that it was plagiarized, since whatever text is copied appears highlighted in red. I chose to make the font of the tagline look like a ransom-note type of way, because it looks like it was cut and pasted, which is similar to how students cut and paste information from the internet. The tagline is saying, if you plagiarized and got caught, not to worry, because its only your word against theirs. However, your words ARE their words since you copied, so there lies the problem of your defense. And www.turnitin.com can prove that you plagiarized, because it is a comparison of both papers. Furthermore, it isnt saying its your word against theirs because that implies a verbal defense, of what the accused says versus what the legal system says. However it reads: Its your word(s) against theirs, because you plagiarized their words, and plagiarism has to do with written text that has been directly copied, not paraphrased, not in quotes, or failing to give the original writer proper credit.
